Playoff Game 3 Review: It's all over but the cryin'

I think we all knew that we'd see "THEM" in the playoffs. I was just hoping that perhaps their captain could go at least one game without being a dick but apparently he's incapable. I don’t think he realizes there is no cash and there is no trophy if they win the championship game for this league. I'm almost thinking we should all go to the final game and cheer for the other team just to piss them off !

Anyway, we had fun, we kept our composure ( for the most part ) and we played a hell of a good game. As badly as we wanted to beat these guys in the end we had to swallow a 16-12 loss.

I think we had a great team this year, we had a lot of fun and we didn’t suck that bad. Here's a couple of interesting stats:

Wins: 7

Losses: also 7

Beer consumed: 360 (estimated)

Mikes consumed: 60 (estimated)

Players lost to injury: 2 ( but not while playing)

Pregnancies: 1 ( also not while playing)

# of times we played with car mats instead of bases: 3

Extra kilometers Alek put on his bike: 4615 (again…estimated)

We still have one last gathering for me to blog so I'm not signing off yet. Dont forget to click the picture above to see action shots from the game.

Playoff Game 2 Review: It's still a win.

The other team couldn't get enough players so we won the game by default. Oh well, it still counts as a win but it doesn't really leave me much to write about.

Playoff Game 1 Review - Whoa.

We came, we played, we kicked ass !

What an awesome game last night. I am not a highly competitive person but I really wanted that win and when we held them on last bats and pulled off a 18-16 victory, I damn near shit myself.

They were a good, fun team who could both bat and field well but they proved to be no match for the Smelly Cats. We played hard and earned that win !

Nadine, I'm not sure what you brought Dave for dinner last night, but man was he hot - I don't think there was much that got by him. Can you bring enough for everyone next game ? That double play he made where they claimed he trapped the ball was likely what kept us alive.

I have to say a special thanks to Alek for coming out and playing last night. He drove all the way from Medicine Hat, played the game and then headed back. His point of view was '"Hey, I got to leave work early, play ball and ride my bike for 5 hours. What more could a guy ask for ?' What a trooper !

Playoff game 1 also marked the return of the Vestrums to the Smelly Cats. Ok, so it was really more of a cameo than a return, but it was great to have them out !

Well, let's do it again next week !

Playoff Game 1 - August 3rd

Our first playoff game is on a Wednesday this week. We are playing at 7:00pm at Brebeuf School 5215 33rd Street N.W.

In case you aren’t aware of how the playoffs work - it's sudden death. Not sudden death like when your wife comes home and finds you naked in the kitchen with the 18 year old babysitter. If we win game #1, we play another game next week. If we lose...we return to our sorry lives, never to play ball again until next year.

Our confirmed players are:

Blaine, Heidi, Doug, Dave, Nadine, Jayson, Shauna, Alek, John & Marilyn.

Game 11 Review - Regular season ends on a positive note

Well folks, game 11 was our final game of the season and we wrapped it up with a 12 - 7 win. We started off pretty slow but managed to get our asses in gear and win the game.

There were a number of distractions at this game. To start, there were no bases again so we used car mats. Then there was something weird going on between Nadine and Rich throwing rocks at each other and then at other players. And then last, but not least, was Mrs. Camel Toe 2005 who couldn't put an arc on the ball to save her life.

I wasn’t able to head out to the pub afterwards so I can't comment on what type of debauchery happened later.

Good game guys - lets do it again next week.
