Game 5 Review : Damn it was cold !

Forget turning up the awesome - someone turn up the heat !

Even though Game 5 was wet, cold and windy we managed to have a blast and almost pulled off a win against the talented team "Heidi's baked goods". It came right down to the last play of the last inning for a final score of 7-6 which was disappointing.

Some game notables were :

Kyle's amazing sprints to 1st - it's a good thing the tie goes to the runner !

Ashley had a great play on 2nd base when she put down her beer and turned just in time to catch the ball and get the batter out.

Blaine had a great homer !

Even the shitty, cold weather cold not stop Jamie from smiling.

And...one of the best plays of the game came in the last inning when Dave reached out to trap the ball and made and impressive throw from his knees to get the runner out on first !

Good job guys - see you all ( and the sun ) next week !

Game 4 Review : Turn up the awesome !

Borrowing the words for our "unofficial" cheerleader Jamie - the Smelly Cats turned down the Suck, and turned up the Awesome to score a 29 - 17 victory over the Sloth Balls.

Back to Jamie the cheerleader - I don't think we've ever had a cheerleader. We've always had Dave but he's kinda like the Shrek of cheerleaders. Then there was Piper who came up with the name Smelly Cats in a moment of drunken genius but then continually called us a bunch of smelly pussies. And of course there was the lovely Char who was our official score keeper and cooler queen. That job has now been taken over by the ever so charming and pregnant Shauna. Hollywood - when are you coming out to cheer us on again?

We played well both in fielding and batting and I must say, mostly because no one else will, I totally redeemed myself from the previous week ! A game notable was when the guy playing 3rd for the Sloth Balls took a pop fly off the forehead. Ouch. Being good sportsmen ( sportspeople for those of you who choose to be anally retentive politically correct ) we gave him a beer to bring down the swelling and dull the pain. It seemed like the right thing to do although I'm sure I heard Joe mumble "you gave away a beer ... ?".

It was a fun game - good job everyone. Dave would have been proud !

Game 3 Review : Victory !

Good Job everyone ! We finally posted out first win against the "Sacraficial Lambs" winning by a score of 14-13.

Not bad considering all the errors and the shoe in catches that were dropped ( I will be sure to get my eyes checked and a CAT scan done) – to Nadine being so awe struck by Joe’s wicked home run hit that she didnt even move off first base ! I think Joe was at home plate well before Nadine had even rounded second once she tuned in.

Darren – did you get all the red rock chips out your stomach and mouth. That was a pretty impressive (self) bodyslam onto first base.

Hopefully Nadine will be able to play next game after taking that ball in the thigh....ouch.

Jamie keep wearing those Red jackets for Nadine when you are back catching … it seems to work !

It felt good to win a game, especially after hearing Dave whimper "I just want to win one game...."

Game 2 Review :

Game 2 was against ".08" which Nadine informed me served us up a 27-15 beating.

I wasn't at game 2 so Nadine took care of rounding up everyone which included subs - thanks Nadine. Here's Nadine's game review :

Hey gang -- thank you to everyone who subbed in for us last night and good job to our regulars … we have had a bit of a slow start to the season, we seem to get our mojo going after the 4th inning, hopefully that will change to the first inning.

Jamie and Ashleigh … you gals were awesome last night. Jamie was back catcher. Ashleigh played 2nd and one guy nailed it and she put her glove out to catch it and at least stopped it (she dropped it) but we all heard the smack. She isn't afraid of the ball. Hope that hand has feeling again Ashleigh :)

DB pitched majority of the game.

Joe is still talented with holding a beer and catching a pop up!!

Rich was a great Rover ... he did hang out at the other team's bench more than ours - what's up with that Rich ?

Game 1 Review - First game brings the first loss

This was our first game in the new league against "Watch out for the Ball !!" which turned out to be a very fun team to play. Aside from the fact that they kicked our asses something like 29-19 !

This year we welcome back some regulars and have a couple of new faces to welcome - Jamie, Kyle, Joe and Ashleigh. Unfortunately ( for us anyway) Shauna has been having unprotected sex and got herself pregnant so she will be on the bench this year. On the upside, we wont have to stock as much beer. :)

It looks like we have agood group again this year and just need so time to start working as a well oiled machine.
